Our Mission

At Above the Barr Terriers, we strive to produce breed standard terriers of proper temperament. Our mission is to be an ethical and knowledgeable Old Dominion Terrier, Decker Terrier, and Rat Terrier breeder while promoting the best physical and temperamental aspects of these incredible dog breeds. In order to fulfill this mission, we:

• Uphold the code of ethics expected by each breed club

• Breed the best stock in order to carry on ideal physical and temperamental traits, while minimizing the risk of illness and disease

• Provide our terriers with an enriching environment that ensures their physical and emotional needs are met

• Establish exceptional health care, nutrition, and socialization from day one

Our goals for the outcome of our dogs, in terms of their physicality and temperament, are:

• A sturdy dog of medium size

• An erect, strong ear set

• Long legs with a tucked midsection

• Adaptable to any lifestyle — energetic enough for adventures, and calm enough for couch snuggles

• Exceptional vermin hunting drive
